Trek Details

Annapurna Base Camp shows you the whole mountain ranges that are magnificent, colossal, and snow-capped that are against the blue sky. Here, the air is pure and a trekker thrives in front of this awe-inspiring mountain ranges. At the base camp, such a unique condition is created by the mountains that you are intimately connected to them. You only see panoramic and picturesque view of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Tent Peak, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Annapurna South. Their beauty is indescribable, they draw your attention, and the only thing that you can do is to take their photos with your camera as much as you like and as far as you can reach to the corners of the base camp.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins from Tikhedunga a starting point, and from here, you cover a large distance of stone steps up to Ulleri. Sweating, blowing out air and absorbing the beautiful landscapes of the Annapurna region from mountains to hills to villages to lush forest to waterfalls, you head off to Annapurna Base Camp. Walking further leads to the emergence of region which is made of uphill trail, steel suspension bridges, less vegetation areas, dense forested areas, beautiful oak forest, and frequent bamboo forest, including the largest rhododendron forest of Nepal. In addition to these, after a descent hike from Ghorepani, you will reach Poonhill, which affords brilliant, amazing, and beautiful view of both Dhaulagiri Ranges and Annapurna Ranges. You will also see Fishtail Mountain, as well as, the mountain ranges bathing in sunlight etc.

 

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Drive to Naya Pool and start trek to Tikhedhunga 5/6hrs

Day 2: Tikhedhunga to Ghodepani 7/8hrs

Day 3: Ghodepani to Tadapni 6/7 hrs

Day 04 : Tadapani to Chhomrong (2170m); 6/7 hrs 

DAY 05: Chhomrong to Dovan (2580m/8460ft): 6 /7 hrs 

DAY 06: Dovan to Deurali (3230m/10,595ft): 5/6 hrs 

DAY 07: Deurali to ABC (4,130m/13,545ft) 6/7 hrs

Day 08: Trek back to Bamboo or Sinuwa ,overnight at guest house 7/8 hrs

Day 09: Treak to Jhinu hill – Hot-spring ,overnight at guest house 6/7 hrs

Day 10:Trek to Pothan (1990 meters),overnight at guest house 7/8 hrs

Day 11: Trek to Dhampus Phedi and drive back to Pokhara 5/6hrs

Itinerary

Trek Starting = Day 01: Drive to Naya Pool and start trek to Tikhedhunga 5/6hrs

(1525 meters), overnight at guest house We begin our trek at Naya Pool, an hour drive from Pokhara. After 20-minutes walk along the Modi stream, we reach at Birethanti – a beautiful village that has plenty of tea shops and guest houses. We
then follow the left route through the village. Our trek will continue heading to Ulleri following the bank of the Burungdi stream. We climb slightly up to the valley of Hile (1495 meters) and Tikhedhunga (1525 meters).this is a beautiful small gurung village.

Day 2: Tikhedhunga to Ghodepani 7/8hrs

Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2800 m.) and it takes about six hours. To begin your trek, you could ascend steeply for the early 2 hours and then ascend gently passing through Ulleri (2070m.) and Banthanti, Magar villages. On the way, you could see good view of Machhapuchhare or Fish Tail (6997m.), Hiunchuli (6441m.), and Annapurna (7219m) south. Now your trail is quite easier passing through rhododendron and shadowy trees and descends gently up to the final camp. You could see some of the wild life such as monkey and various species of birds.

Day 3: Ghodepani to Tadapni 6/7 hrs

Trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3180m.) to Tadapani (2675m.) which takes about five and half hours. Early morning trip to Poon Hill (3232m.) to enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.), Tukuche Peak (6920m.), Nilgiri (6940m.), Varaha Shikhar (7847m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna South (7219m.), Annapurna III (7855m.), Machhapuchhare (6993m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Annapurna II (7937m.), Lamjung Himal (6931m.) and other numerous snowcapped mountain peaks. After breakfast trek Ghorepani to Tadapani (2650 m.). After walking for almost one and half hour you reach Gurung Hill which has the splendid mountain views as Poon Hill. From here you follow small forests with rhododendron, bamboos until you reach Deurali. The trail goes steeply down through deep forests all the way to Banthati. It takes one hour from here to reach Tadapanil After breakfast trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2631m.) through the deep forests of rhododendrons, bamboos and oaks. En route, you frequently see waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, local birds and green scenarios. Tadapani is a small village surrounded by beautiful forests which grants you a magnificent view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail, and Annapurna II and so on.

Day 04 : Tadapani to Chhomrong (2170m); 6/7 hrs

After breakfast we will forward to Chhomrong from a small village Tadapani. The route goes the long rise high above the west bank of the Modi Khola, and continues up to the village of Chhomrong. Towering above the village is the mighty peak of Annapurna south, with the Fishtail facing it across the valley. Our five hour trek ends today at Chhomrong which is a beautiful village located on the lap of giant Annapurna massive. It’s a typical Gurung village but now it’s modernized and lost its culture & traditions. We’ll spend Overnight at the guesthouse.

DAY 05: Chhomrong to Dovan (2580m/8460ft): 6 /7 hrs

We head out of Chhomrong along the Modi Khola leaving behind inhabited foothills into the high step and wooded slopes of the Himalayas. We cross the suspension bridge and trek up to Sinuwa Danda. The ascent from Sinuwa becomes somewhat flatter and the trail continues pass the thick and dark rhododendron forest up to Khuldighar. From here we descend via long and steep stone steps into the deep bamboo and rhododendron forests through which we reach Doban.

DAY 06: Dovan to Deurali (3230m/10,595ft): 5/6 hrs

The day starts with a gradual ascend following the trail above the river through a thick bamboo, oak and rhododendron forest up the side of the canyon. We pass by the Himalaya HOTEL AND cross two streams over small bridges. The trail passes through solitary places and the wilderness of the mother nature gives piece to our mind. There is also the possibility of seeing a variety of species of wildlife such as the wild pig, deer, snow leopard, etc. Climb again to the Hinko Cave, an overhanging rock. Climbing further we arrive at Deurali. Overnight in Deurali.

DAY 07: Deurali to ABC (4,130m/13,545ft) 6/7 hrs

Today we start our trek to Machhapuchre Base Camp (MBC). At first a gentle climb through a river bed rises steeply over the mountain side. After about half an hour walk from Deurali, we will find ourselves in the middle of river bed surrounded by giant snow-covered mountains. When the sun rises, the snow on mountains shine and river valley is filled with warm sun rays. We reach Bagar. The hike to MBC is somewhat strenuous but the unfolding views of the majestic Machhapuchre are certainly a rewarding experience. Enjoy the views of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gangapurna and, of course, the Fishtail or Machhapuchhare itself. On the way to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), the vegetation disappears. We’ll see the snow boulders melting and forming small streams. The path widens as we enter the sanctuary, follows a stream, and then climbs to a few huts alongside a moraine. There are sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above the sanctuary. Annapurna Base Camp sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything impeding panorama of the 360 degrees. Savor the mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchre, Annapurna south, Annapurna I, Hiuchuli and other peaks. Overnight in Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 08: Trek back to Bamboo or Sinuwa ,overnight at guest house 7/8 hrs

Finally, we trek back to Sinuwa with the remembrance of Annapurna south and the giant Himalayan peaks.

Day 09: Treak to Jhinu hill – Hot-spring ,overnight at guest house 6/7 hrs

The temperature at the hot spring ranges from 45*C to 48*C and is 54*C to 57*C at the foundation. The water in this hot spring consists of great amount of black salt and phosphorus which itself is a natural antibiotic. Due to this reason, the diseases are not transferable from one another while sharing the bath at the hot spring. By taking continuous bath in this hot spring, diseases like gastric, rheumatism, uric acid, back ache, skin disease, swelling, goiter and arthritis have been found to be cured. Depending on the nature and condition of the disease, people take bath in the hot spring for a period of couple of days to even weeks. The hot spring can occupy up to approximately 20 people at a time.

Day 10:Trek to Pothan (1990 meters),overnight at guest house 7/8 hrs

Today, our trek leads to another beautiful village of this region, known as Tolka crossing through Landruk. Still, you will have great views of Mt. Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchre, Lamjung Himal with Sunrise and Sunset.

Trek Ending = Day 11: Trek to Dhampus Phedi and drive back to Pokhara 5/6hrs

Dhampus gives you a nice views of Pokhara valley on the south and the Annapurna range on the north and Fishtail mountain. We then descends to Dhampus, another beautiful Gurung village. Finally, we complete our trek as we descend to Phedi and then drive back to Pokhara.Overnight in Pokhara.
