Pokhara valley sightseeing is one of the enchanting place to view the Phewa lake and the magnificence of the fish tail summit of Mt. Machhapuchare (6977m) rising behind it create an ambience of peace and magic. The city situated in the tranquil valley (827m), is the starting point for many of Nepal’s most trekking and rafting destinations. The valley surrounding Pokhara is home to thick forests, gushing rivers, clear lakes and the world famous views of the Himalaya. Situated 200 km west of Kathmandu, Pokhara is connected by air as well as by road from Kathmandu. The worth seeing places to visit in Pokhara are Phewa Lake, Seti River gorge, World Peace Pagoda, Davis Fall, Gupteshowr Cave, Mahendra Cave, Bindabashini Temple, International Mountaineering Museum, Pokhara Museum and Annapurna Museum.

Phewa Lake
Phewa is the second largest lake in Nepal and lying at an altitude of 784 m (2,572 ft) it covers an area of about 4.43 square km (1.7 sq mi) with an average depth of about 8.6 m (28 ft) with maximum water depth is 22.8 m (75 ft) when measured with an echo-sounder on 5 December 2009. Maximum water capacity of the lake is approximately 46,000,000 cubic metres (37,000 acre·ft). Annapurna looms in the distance from the lake and the lake is famous for the reflection of Mount Machapuchare on its surface.

Barahi Temple
The Holy Barahi Temple is situated on an island of Phewa lake. Barahi is one of the Asta matrikas, a group eight mother goddesses in the Hindu religion. With the head of a sow, Barahi is the shakti (feminine energy, or sometimes, consort) of Baraha, the boar incarnation of the god Vishnu. In Nepal, she is called Barahi. Varahi is worshipped by all the three major schools of Hinduism: Shaktism (goddess worship), Shaivism (followers of the god Shiva) and Vaishnavism (devotion to Vishnu). To visit this temple it needs few minutes of boating.

Davis Falls
Davis Falls is a interesting spot to be visited in Pokhara. An interesting aspect of the falls is that the water travels through a natural tunnel prior. The water there comes from the Fewa Lake. It was named after Mrs Davi, a Swiss tourist in Nepal, who was swimming in the Fewa Lake. The dam unexpectedly started to overflow and Davi’s husband helplessly looked on while the waters swept his wife down the waterfall. This version took place in the year 1961 and the body of Mrs Davi was never recovered.

Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave
Gupteshwor Mahadev is a beautiful cave just opposite to David Fall. A giant stalagmite within this cave is honoured as a Shiva lingam and the devout flock here to pray. Entry tickets allow you to enter the temple. For some extra money you can also obtain entry to the tunnel behind, which comes out at a wet cavern right behind the gushing Devi’s Falls. Once inside the cave, look up at the ceiling and you will see detritus and branches in cracks in the rock. These have actually been pushed up there by flood waters that fill the cave during the monsoon.

Bindhya Basini Temple
Bindhya Basini Temple is most sacred temples in Pokhara city. It was built during the 17th century. This temple is consecrated to Durga (an incarnation of goddess Parvati), the goddess of war. Devotees worship the saligram or ammonite fossil placed here in her name.

Seti River Gorge
It carved by Seti – Gandaki is one of the natural wonders of Pokhara. KI Singh Bridge at the Bagar, Mahendra Pool & Prithivi Highway Bridge near Bus Park provides a perfect view of the river’s dreadful rush and the deep gorge made by the turbulent flow of white water like milk.

International Mountain Museum
International Mountain Museum is one of the major attractions of Pokhara. The museum has two main exhibition halls, Hall of the Great Himalaya and Hall of World Mountains.
